One of my favorite pastimes is to take a nice, relaxing bath. A bath has always seemed so indulgent because it takes time to run the water and to properly set the tone. Taking a bath to me always seemed so decadent. I mean, who has time for a bath?! I rarely have had time to take baths. Life has always been so busy with the demands of life – work, motherhood, work, motherhood, work and everything else seemed to leave little time for baths. But during the quarantine, I discovered that a bath has not simply been an indulgence, it was a stress reliever and a life saver. I realize that taking a bath is a form of self-love.
There are so many wonderful bath bombs, oils and bubbles, but for me, the more simple the bath, the better … my body doesn’t like too much of that perfumey stuff. For me, my perfect bath consists of avocado oil, the Oatmeal Coconut Soak bath salts, and sometimes I add two cups of coconut milk for extra hydration. I also like a good bath pillow and bath mat (so I don’t slip and slide), some soft music and several vanilla candles burning. I turn off the lights and turn on the bathtub jets (heaven!). I don’t like to read or watch tv while I am taking a bath – it really defeats the purpose. I may listen to music but mostly I like to use the time to meditate. When I emerge from this bath, I am a smooth, supple goddess (in my head). It’s really amazing. A bath is the super, simple (cheap) treat that never disappoints. It makes me feel like a new woman every single time. Think about what “bath recipe” soothes your soul. Enjoy!
The Ultimate Bath Requires:
- Bath salts (The Beautiful – Lavender Eucalyptus Soak or the Oatmeal Coconut Soak)
- Avocado oil or sweet almond oil (1/4 cup)
- Scrubbing cloth
- Candles (my favorite are vanilla candles)
- Relaxing music or a good podcast
- Bath mat and/or a bath pillow
- No reading or watching anything – close your eyes
- Don’t make the water too hot – medium hot temp is ideal
- End your bath by using The Beautiful Body Butter – you will feel like a QUEEN. IJS.
