All Was Not Well

A good friend sent me a text asking how I was doing and automatically I responded with, “All is well.” But it wasn’t. Have you ever wanted something so bad and wished for it and you pined for it. You imagined yourself having it and you practiced manifestation to get it and hoped and you prayed and you begged for it. You promised the universe that if you got it you would do anything – like be a better person and then … whatever it was … you got it. And you were so excited and happy and thrilled and beside yourself …. and then you experienced it … whatever it was … and it was a complete letdown. It could be a car, a handbag, a man, a job, a house, a trip, anything. This happened to me. It was a job that I thought would be my “dream job.”  What I Iearned …

  • I realize that the things that are truly for you, come easy. When you pray for something or ask the Universe for something or manifest something – always ask for what is best for you, not for a particular job or company or person. Always focus on what is in your best interest.
  • Never let a situation change you or get you out of your groove. You are better than whatever toxicity you are experiencing. It’s temporary. Look forward to what is ahead of you.
  • Always ask yourself, what you need to learn from this experience. How can you grow from this?
  • You are never your situation. Something better is always on the horizon. Trust me.
  • You are amazing all on your own – you are not your title, the company you work for or your bank account.
  • Always protect your peace. Leave situations that do not serve you, do not recognize your value or try to dim your light – that’s relationships, work, friendships, whatever the case may be. Plot your exit when you see things are not in your best interest. Do not allow fear to tell you that you do not have options. You do. Be strategic. Move in silence. Plan your exit.

What to Look Out for in Organizations:

  • Never, ever work for a company that does not have a strong, influential Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team in place.
  • Never work for a company that puts their employees last and has no empathy for them when they are suffering. Do your colleagues look miserable? Is there a lot of complaining? Are ideas heard and encouraged? What are people whispering about? What is the energy like in the building? What is the culture like? How do they make you feel?
  • Are meaningful relationships encouraged? Are you able to venture outside of your team or department? Is your team dynamic healthy? Is the leader fair? Available? Supportive? Intelligent and worthy of their title? When something doesn’t feel right, it isn’t.
  • If your colleagues are more focused on your clothes than your contributions, that is a problem.
  • When your light is dimmed or your voice is quieted – you are in the wrong place.
  • If a company does not have Employee Resource Groups – in 2022? They likely don’t care about diverse people or ideas.
  • Never be afraid to step away.  Never be afraid to leap.  Always have enough money saved to take care of you.
  • Be careful if people probe into your personal life. Never discuss your personal life in detail – these people are not your friends. Be discreet.

What happened to me, you ask? Ultimately, I left the company … and I never looked back. Sometimes gifts come in ugly packages. Focus on the beautiful gift – not that ugly package. 😉  Everything happens for a reason.
