Choose Joy (and Love)

It’s been a minute friends.  I have been a bit busy and kind of neglecting my blog.  As much as I love it, writing can be hard sometimes. I’m not sure why.  I guess because I always have a lot going on with work and travel, socializing and parenting and just living. I also moved last year.  I moved into a place that I love so admittedly, I have been doing a lot of decorating and entertaining. It’s amazing.  When these things happen do you ever look around and pinch yourself because it’s so hard to believe? I find myself doing that a lot.  I am going to share it on this platform very soon.  I should right? Because it’s something that truly brings me joy.  And these days, I think we should embrace every bit of joy that we can.  Each week, each day seems to bring news of trauma, destruction and pain.  It’s almost impossible to escape it.  Some people have asked me how to cope.  I don’t have the answer. I don’t think anyone does.

Honestly, I am doing my best to protect my peace.  It feels like a concerted effort to hurt, to destroy.  There is a feeling of vulnerability and powerlessness among so many of us.  But we are not powerless.  What we must do now is we must support one another.  We must provide protection and champion one another.  Love one another.  See the beauty in ourselves and one another.  When one is down, be that safe space for that person.  Be kind to one another.  It feels really heavy … but we’ve been here before.  The things that I am doing to protect my peace include meditation, journaling, checking on my loved ones and my friends (particularly the strong ones), listening, checking out sometimes, staying abreast of things, reading, exercising, listening to music, listening to podcasts, being financially responsible, learning new things, being grateful for the amazing things in my life (never allow anyone to make you lose sight of this) and doing the things that I love – like writing this blog.  Friends, every day make a concerted effort to find and experience some joy.  And no matter what, love beautiful, brilliant, amazing you. I know that there is so much more to say regarding what is happening in the world but my intention is not to speak about the things you already know, instead I want to use this platform to encourage and inspire you, and to remind you that we are in this together.
